Nexa has two separate upgrades in motion — don't mix them up:

⛈ Hard Fork 2 — Tailstorm (confirmed: Nov 1, 2026)

Blocks become a DAG of subblocks: ~1 second commitments, 2-minute settlement preserved, k=120 PoW solutions per summary block for low-variance mining. The PoW stays the same — INIBOX and GPU rigs keep mining exactly as before. The pool upgrades, not your miner.

🔮 NexaPoW 2.0 (future — no activation date, NOT part of HF2)

Official Nexa announcement: NexaPoW 2.0 will introduce a Cellular Automaton that changes configuration frequently and unpredictably — making dedicated ASICs too costly to design and manufacture, effectively limiting mining to FPGAs (with a brief CPU/GPU window before FPGAs dominate). This is a separate upgrade from HF2 (Tailstorm). No activation date yet (targeted for the later part of this year / into 2027). When the spec publishes, DrillHash will build directly against it.
